Surf Trippen

Right now I'm 'surf trippen' with my buddy Mathyas. 'Surf trippen' is all about getting up early, surfing, chilling in cafe's, driving to good tunes and drinking beer right? Well we set out to do just that, and also document it to make a cool, arty (in the fashionable sense of the word) video with heaps of close ups, slow mo's and time lapses. But here's the catch… we're spending so much time collecting and processing the footage, that the only beer we're drinking is the one we use to get 'the shot'. So it's much less the classic 'surf trip', and more a couple of boys getting super excited about good lighting, soft bokeh's (apparently that's japanese for the off focus points in photographs) and fish eye lenses. It's not what either of us expected, but it's a great trip none the less. It's like stepping out of life and watching it behind the scenes, like an anthropologist documenting himself. Does being focused on capturing moments in life through a lens, mean I'm missing out on actually living these moments? It's not how i'd always like to live, but the joy I get from a good clip of a beer at sunset, is comparable to the joy I get from an actual beer at sunset after a day of actual surfing… for now = ).

All photo's  Mathyas - video coming soon.
